Salamanca Market runs each Saturday from 8.30 am to 3 pm, rain, hail or shine. It’s a Saturday morning ritual for locals and is Tasmania’s most visited tourist attraction.
The market is one of those special places where you can find plenty of handmade and home-grown produce, mingle with the locals, enjoy the vibrancy and atmosphere.
The market extends the full length of Hobart's historic Salamanca Place, Salamanca Market is located on Salamanca Place, from the silos end to the top of Davey Street. Arrive early in the morning to beat the crowds:
The market is open from 8.30 am to 3 pm. Most stalls are set up by 8 am in the morning, it’s pleasant arriving and enjoying a coffee before it gets busy. The most popular times are from 11 - 1 pm and then it can get less busy from 2 pm onwards.
Allow plenty of time:
Plan to spend 3-4 hours to walk around the entire market and soak up the atmosphere. This will allow you time to meander at your own pace, grab some breakfast or lunch and relax on the lawns.
